Ceramic both as a part of handicrafts and contemporary art, is always a mode of production that maintains its currentness and continuity. At the same time, considering Turkey’s economic sources, ceramic is really valuable in terms of tourism and artistic production. In this context, ceramic which has a historical background, has gained an academic dimension with the help of universities. At the same time, this situation has made a great contribution to the development of ceramic art. In this research, the academic staffs in ceramic departments of the universities in Turkey are examined by using statistical data by individual examination and research due to the fact that Higher Education Authority (Yüksek Öğretim Kurumu) statistical datas do not overlap with the current datas. These numerical datas which belongs to both ceramic departments and fine arts faculty, are compared across the universities in Turkey separately in terms of academic staff’s title. In this context, the status of ceramics art in universities in Turkey, which has such a strong history and value, has been exposed throughout this research. The academic staff of the universities were compared according to their positions in universities. As a result of this comparison, in the light of the positivist point of view, the academic values of the ceramic departments of the faculty is examined whether it is enough or not.
