This page summarises the journal’s publication process and main policies; details are on the linked pages.
Open access
The journal is fully open access. All published articles are freely available to everyone immediately upon publication, without registration, subscription or charges (see Open Access Policy).
Fees
Readers are never charged. Authors pay an article processing charge of 3,000 TRY at submission; an optional typesetting service costs an additional 2,000 TRY. Apart from these, there are no page, colour, post-acceptance publication or withdrawal charges (see Fees).
Review process and timelines
All submissions are first screened by the editorial office. Research and review articles then undergo double-blind peer review: each manuscript is reviewed by at least two reviewers from different institutions, and the Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision. Target times are given below (details: Peer Review Process).
| Stage | Target time |
|---|---|
| Initial screening (editor) | Up to 4 weeks |
| Response to a review invitation | 7 days |
| Peer review | 4 weeks; reminders are sent before and after the deadline |
| First decision | Within 12 weeks of submission |
| Minor revision (author) | 3 weeks |
| Major revision (author) | 6 weeks |
| Assessment of the revised manuscript and decision | 4 weeks |
| From acceptance to publication | In the first available issue, after language and format checks, preparation for publication and proofreading |
Authors are informed if a target time is exceeded and may withdraw their manuscript if they wish.
Frequency and languages
The journal publishes one volume and two issues a year, in June and December. The languages of publication are Turkish and English. Any change to the frequency or to the publication months is decided before the new volume begins and announced on the journal website.
Pagination
Page numbers run continuously through each volume: the second issue of a volume begins with the page following the last page of the first issue. The page range of every article appears in its bibliographic details and in the table of contents of the issue.
First page of published articles
From Issue 25 onwards, the first page of every published article gives the article type; the dates of submission and acceptance; the names, titles, affiliations and ORCID iDs of the authors; the email address of the corresponding author; the DOI; and the bibliographic citation of the article. The end of the article carries the statements on authors’ contributions, funding and acknowledgements, conflicts of interest and ethics approval.
Article types
The journal publishes research articles, review articles, book reviews, interviews and translations. Lengths and the type of evaluation for each are given in the Author Guidelines.
Editorial independence
Publication decisions are made by the editors solely on the basis of scholarly quality, originality, methodological adequacy and fit with the journal’s scope. Neither the publisher nor the service provider interferes with editorial decisions. Authors’ institution, title, nationality, gender, beliefs or opinions have no bearing on decisions. Payment of the article processing charge does not imply acceptance and has no influence on the decision.
Manuscripts by editors and board members
- Manuscripts submitted by the Editor-in-Chief are handled by a member of the Editorial Board who has no conflict of interest with the Editor-in-Chief; that member makes the final decision.
- Manuscripts by members of the Editorial Board are assigned to an editor with no conflict of interest.
- An editor who is an author has no access to the review records of their own manuscript at any stage.
- Editors, board members or reviewers may be authors of no more than 25% of the research articles published in any issue.
- An author’s board membership is stated in the article’s conflict of interest statement.
Special issues and conference issues
Special issues and issues consisting of papers presented at scholarly meetings are prepared under the responsibility of the Editor-in-Chief, and the review process and policies of regular issues apply to them in full. Every article is reviewed by at least two reviewers; presentation at a meeting is not a reason for acceptance. The expertise of guest editors is assessed by the Editor-in-Chief and their work is overseen by the editorial office. Guest editors’ own papers are reviewed independently and may not exceed 25% of the articles in the special issue. Special issues and conference issues are clearly identified on the issue page and on the first page of each article. The number of special issues published in a year does not exceed one third of the regular issues, and special issues are paginated separately.
Prior publication and preprints
The journal considers work that has not been published elsewhere and is not under review at another journal. Preprints (e.g. on OSF Preprints or Zenodo), theses and conference papers whose full text has not been published do not count as prior publication; authors should state them at submission.
Advertising and direct marketing
The journal does not carry advertising or sponsored content. Calls for papers and announcements of events organised by the journal are issued only through its official channels.
Revenue model
The article processing charge is levied to cover the journal’s publishing costs. Publishing services are provided by Artsürem Yayıncılık. Neither the charges nor the publishing services arrangement influences editorial decisions.
Copyright, licensing and archiving
Articles published from Issue 25 onwards are published under the CC BY 4.0 licence, and copyright remains with the authors (see Copyright and Licensing). Archiving and self-archiving terms are set out in the Archiving and Repository Policy.
Ethics
In research and publication ethics the journal follows COPE guidance and the Directive on Scientific Research and Publication Ethics of the Council of Higher Education of Türkiye (YÖK) (see Research and Publication Ethics).
Policy updates
Policies are updated when necessary, and the effective date is stated on this page. Last updated: October 2026.
